Ok, I’m going to get right to it today.

We are over medicating our society. It would be one thing if it just hurt that one person taking the medication, but it’s not. It’s hurting us all.

We all heard about the senseless shootings that happened this past weekend in Vegas.

While there are many factors that contribute to a person behaving in such a horrific way, I have only one topic I want to discuss with you today:

Anti-anxiety drugs

The Vegas shooter, and every other crazy manic who has opened fire on innocent people, was prescribed an anti-anxiety drug called Dizaepam.

Diazepam is a sedative-hypnotic drug, in the class of drugs known as benzodiazepines, which studies have shown can trigger aggressive behavior.

According to Dr. Mel Pohl, chief medical officer of the Las Vegas Recovery Center “If somebody has an underlying aggression problem and you sedate them with that drug, they can become aggressive. It can disinhibit an underlying emotional state. It is much like what happens when you give alcohol to some people, they become aggressive instead of going to sleep.”

And a 2015 study published in World Psychiatry of 960 Finnish adults and teens convicted of homicide showed that their odds of killing were 45 percent higherduring time periods when they were on benzodiazepines.

45% higher chance of killing!! What???!!!!

So what does this have to do with you and your family’s health?

I am on a mission. To give you tools. To change the way people take care of their health.

We have a whole generation of teens growing up on these anti-depressants & anti-anxiety drugs.

As these teens struggle with massive toxins pouring into their bodies, crazy high levels of stress, and non-stop screen time overloading their brains, parents are reaching more and more for medications to solve their child’s mental stress.

Why do we have more faith in the prescription pad in our doctor’s hand then in our own healing power? I will never understand this.

But instead of just ranting today, I would like to give you some practical tips on how you and your family can beat depression and anxiety.

Anxiety is a neurochemical imbalance, that you can rebalance by appling the tips below.

1.Stop eating toxic food.

Chemical laden food destroys your brain. There are over 400,000 food additives that are in your foods that have not been officially determined to be safe. These additives are rated GRAS, which stands for generally recognized as safe. Basically these additives are innocent until proven guilty. That is the FDA’s approach to food.

When manmade chemicals enter your gut they destroy your microbiome. This destruction leads to a leaky gut. Once a leaky gut situation has formed, the next round of toxins you ingest will not exit your body through your stools, but leak into your bloodstream and have direct access to your brain.

2.Stop eating pesticide & glyphosate filled food.

If you are not eating organic, you are getting micro doses of glyphosate & pesticides on your food everyday.

Foods that are packed with the most glyphosate are sugar and wheat.

Depressed or anxious? Trying getting off these foods and see what happens.

3.Know your gut microbiome.

It’s your good gut microbiome that produce neurotransmitters that calm the brain.

If your microbiome is out of balance, you will not produce the proper amount of neurotransmitters. GABA for example, calms your brain. If you have more bad bacteria than good, your gut will not produce enough GABA and your brain will feel anxious.

Do you know if you have the right balance of good vs. bad bacteria?

We now do gut testing at a reasonable price. Email Jessica@familylifewellness.comand she can tell you more about our gut testing.

It is my mission to get this gut test in the hands of every family in my town. Once you understand your gut microbiome, you will know how to strengthen your immune system, balance your brain neurotransmitters, and speed up your metabolism.

4.Increase your good fats

Your brain is made of fat. It needs good fat to function normally. Be sure that you avoiding bad fats that cause your brain to inflame and are adding in good fats that keep your brain healthy.

5.Feed your brain ketones

Learn about the ketogenic diet. It is low carb, moderate protein, high good fat diet. When you lower your blood sugar, your liver will produce something called ketones. Your brain loves ketones. In fact, it’s a way better source of fuel than glucose for your brain.

Follow me on Facebook. I do live videos every week on the ketogenic diet.

6.Improve your brain lymphatic’s.

You were born with a special fluid called Cerebral Spinal Fluid that is pumped up and down your spine to your brain every second of your day. One of the functions of CSF is to detoxify your brain.

CSF will slow down as you spend more time with your head forward. Like on your computer or smartphone. If you lose the curve in your neck, your brain will get less and less CSF. With less flow of CSF in and out of the brain, toxins have a greater chance of accumulating in your brain.

Go to a corrective chiropractor. One who knows how to measure and restore the curves in your spine. CT scans show immediate increase in CSF post chiropractic adjustment.

7.Learn to meditate

It’s not hard. It just takes discipline. I use an app called CALM. It’s a guided meditation that can take as little as 10 minutes a day.

What meditation does is train your brain to pause. Instead of instantly reacting to a stressful situation, your brain learns to pause. It is in that pause that you can have a better response to your stress. Too many of you are just reacting to stress, not pausing and letting the situation work itself out.

I am also a huge fan of 4-7-8 breathing. Google it. It’s a quick, easy breathing technique that will instruct your brain to immediately release GABA.

8.Make exercise your Prozac

When you take an anti-depressant or anti-psychotic it changes the chemical balance of your brain. Well so does exercise. In fact, studies show that exercise does a better job than Prozac for changing your brain chemistry.

Research is also proving to us that you don’t have to exercise long to get this chemical change. A high intensity 15-minute workout, can produce enough endorphins to keep you happy all day long.

I do a high intensity 15-minute workout with my patients every Saturday morning. You can find recordings of those workouts on my You Tube channel. Give one a try. No equipment needed.

9.Learn about natural nootropics

There are many new supplements on the market that help to rebalance your neurotransmitter production. Neurosyn and Calm are two of my favorite. This class of brain supplements is called Nootropics.

Nootropics improve cognitive function, particularly executive functions, memory, creativity, or motivation, in healthy individuals.

If you have tried the above tricks and still feel anxious, Try the two supplements above. I call them my mood reset. Email Jessica at Jessica@familylifewellness.comand she will send you some.

10.Choose love

In any given moment of the day, you have the opportunity to choose love. There are a ton of things you can stress about. But instead of focusing on what upsets you, train your brain to focus on seeing love all around you.

I use the word “Cancel” when a thought comes into my head that doesn’t serve me. It’s my way of stopping the brain from going down a rabbit hole of negative thoughts. Once I say cancel, I ask myself “What’s the best case scenario that can happen here”. I focus my thoughts on how I want a situation to turn out. Or how I would like to see a loved one behave.

The more you do, the easier that mind turn works for you. Before you know it you will attract people and situations to you that build you a happy life.

I hope you see that there is a lot you can do to calm your brain.

Reach out of you need help. I am here for you.

Have a blessed and happy day!
