Every morning I have a set of health rituals that I follow.
One of those rituals is checking my tongue before I do anything. What am I looking for?
A white coating.
This indicates the presence of a fungus known as Candida. This fungus can make you crave sugar, give you brain fog, and drain your energy.
Years ago I had really bad candida. Once you fight candida down, it always has a chance of coming back. Even though I no longer eat a diet that feeds candida, changes in hormones and stress levels can create an environment where yeast can proliferate.
So I look at my morning tongue, to keep things in check.
What am I looking for? What would a Candida tongue look like?
Well, there are varying degrees of white. Here’s what I tell my patients to look for:
A white cottage cheese appearance means SEVERE CANDIDA.
A thick white furry coat means MODERATE TO SEVERE CANDIDA.
A light white coating means MILD CANDIDA.
A pink tongue means NO CANDIDA.
It’s that simple.
Be sure you are looking at your tongue every morning so you can see what’s happening in your gut. If you are doing one of our Candida purges than use your tongue as an indicator of progress. Often your tongue will get more white when you do a pathogen purge, but as you are getting to the end of the purge it should be pink.
Another time this tongue test comes in handy is when you’re detoxing. This week I am launching another 4-Day water fast with my community. There are several measurements we will be using to determine how our bodies are responding to the detox. First morning tongue will be one of them.
Fasting is one of the best tricks I have seen for killing pathogens in the gut. The minute you stop feeding your body food, you starve out bad bacteria and yeasts. This die off of pathogens can create a white tongue as well.

Hope this helps! Cheers to a candida free body. Reach out if you need any help.
Have an awesome day!
